A shipping clerk is responsible for the efficient processing and dispatch of outgoing shipments from a company, including tasks like generating shipping labels, tracking inventory of packaging material needed to ship product (s), and coordinating with carriers as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory management: Maintaining accurate inventory levels of all materials needed for shipping of company products.
- Shipping label generation: Creating shipping labels with accurate addresses and barcodes.
- Carrier coordination: Selecting appropriate shipping carriers and scheduling pick-ups.
- Documentation: Completing necessary shipping paperwork including packing slips, and customs forms.
- Shipping system updates: Inputting tracking details into SO and shipping management
- Filing Claims for damaged or lost shipments with FedEx Ground and any other carrier as needed.
- Reconcile Payments for damaged or lost shipments on Acumatica dashboard.
- Upholding company standards
- Working within company SOP
Skills and Qualifications:
- Attention to detail: Ability to accurately input information.
- Physical ability: Capability to lift and move heavy packages regularly.
- Computer skills: Basic computer skills a must. Shipping software/management skills a plus.
- Organizational skills: Efficiently managing multiple orders and prioritizing tasks.
- Communication skills: Effective interaction with internal teams and external carriers.
