An exciting career opportunity exists for a Water Operator II, III or IV at Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority located in Beaufort, South Carolina.  Under limited supervision, the Water Operator operates the Surface Water Treatment plant(s), ground water systems, and Aquifer Storage and Recovery systems in accordance with applicable SCDHEC regulations. The operator performs a variety of duties involving treatment plant operations, distribution systems operations, instrumentation calibration, equipment monitoring and preventative maintenance, and administrative tasks. During the off hours, monitors the operations of BJWSA’s wastewater treatment plants and collections systems using BJWSA’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.  This position requires shift work, and  reports to the Chief Water Operator.

Requirements:

• Requires a High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to four years’ experience as an operator of a public water treatment facility.
• Must possess a S.C. Class C, B or A (prefer class A) Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification. Requires a valid driver's license.
• Ability to read and write, and perform basic math calculations. Must have the ability to operate a variety of equipment and instruments used in plant operations.  Must possess basic mechanic skills to perform equipment checks and preventative maintenance and complete instrument calibration.
• Computer experience in Excel, Word and the ability to learn software used by BJWSA. Must possess or obtain training in confined space entry, work zone safety, HAZMAT safety, first aid/CPR and forklift operations.
